Ar Eugene Seow

(membership number 2592 since 2016)

Eugene is the managing partner and brings with him over 18 years of local and international built experience in a wide variety of scales and sectors ranging from high-end residential to transport, industrial, civic, and educational.   He spent almost 12 years with Aedas Singapore  and was involved in large high-profile projects like the Dubai Metro, the Star Vista Performing Arts Centre, and the new Lycee Francais de Singapour.   In 2017 and 2018, he was with the multiple award-winning firm of Bates Smart in Melbourne, Australia, overseeing several high-profile and iconic projects like the Jam Factory and QVM Munro developments as the project leader. 

 

As lead architect and project leader for many large scale and high-profile projects both in Singapore and Melbourne, he is highly skilled in the management of a full range of project deliverables, from inception and concept design, to design development and completion. 

Outside of work, he spends considerable amount of effort on his road bike attempting to beat his personal times on strava and enjoys this sufferance with like-minded cycling enthusiasts.

Professional Qualification:

2016 : Registered to practice as an architect with the Board of Architects, Singapore

2009 :  Registered as a Green Mark Manager with the Building Construction Authority, Singapore


Prior Working Experience:
 

2017 - 2018 : Architect and Project Leader with Bates Smart, in Melbourne Australia, overseeing several iconic and high-profile residential and mixed-use projects in Melbourne including the Jam Factory and QVM Munro redevelopments, up till town-planning and detail design stages.  Other projects included high-end residential development and luxury retail architectural tenancy.

2013 - 2017 : Associate with Aedas Singapore, as the lead architect for the Lycee Francais de Singapour (The French School of Singapore) overseeing the project from concept to statutory completion, and together with the landscape architects STXLA, successfully created a campus closely integrated with the landscape as a focus for the students' playing and learning experience.  The project recently won the Merit Award for Institution Category at the 2017 Singapore Landscape Architecture Awards (SLAA). 

 

He was also the lead architect for the Woodlands Experimental Zone in JTC's Woodlands North Coast masterplan, which included an estate-wide vision of a new typology of industrial buildings in collaborative live-work-play spaces. 

2007 - 2013 : Senior Architectural Designer with Aedas Singapore, as one of a team of project architects that was responsible for the design development, tender, and completion of The Star Performing Arts Center and Star Vista Retail Mall, a 63,000sqm development sited within the One-North masterplan, consisting of a 5000-seat auditorium suspended above naturally ventilated civic and retail spaces.  Other projects included the Dubai Metro's Beniyas underground station and various mixed-use developments in Abu Dhabi.


2005 - 2007 : Architectural Designer with Aedas Singapore, as the station and design architect of all Type-1 metro stations of the Dubai Metro Red-Line, consisting of 18 of the total of 28 above ground stations.

 

2002 - 2003 : Architectual Intern with DP Architects Singapore, assisting the Design and Project Architects to produce design drawings and material for various local and international projects at various stages of design, including a short stint in Shenzhen, China.
